Even though it’s autumn right now it doesn’t feel like it. It’s not warm anymore outside but I’m still walking around in sleeveless tops and shirts. I think this dress by Cloé is really perfect for this kind of weather.
The coat is also nice but more for during winter.
Don’t you just love these greenish colors? I always love wearing blouses with lace in this color.. Go green!
Every third Tuesday of September we have Prinsjesdag (Prince day) in the Netherlands. On this day the government and the king/queen will announce that years financial balance. It is very official; there’s golden chariot, a march and all the governmental ladies will wear fancy hats. The hats can turn very creative, most ladies use them to send out a political message.
Girls in traditional clothes
Hat protesting against buying the JSF airplanes
I think this year the hats were not as creative and good-looking as in other years. Might be because of the recession and austerity measures that people felt now was not a good time to show off.
I´m in Stockholm right now. I´m visiting a friend and will be here for 6 days. I have traveled a lot and can always find something enjoyable in strange cities and countries. But this time I´m finding it hard to do so.
´Been there, done that, seen this before, Hey! This looks just like Bulgaria!´
That´s the feeling I´ve been getting here the past 4 days now. Everything feels so familiar and static and in other words quite dull.
I have to leave my friends house early and come back late, I just find myself wandering around, seeing familiar sights. I´ve come up with a great way to enjoy myself though:
Trying to find quirky Swedish habits.
For example: when Swedish people use the public transport they only check-in. So every trip costs the same amount of money. I figure the Swedish transport company doesn´t make much profit…and it´s frightfully easy to ride for free. I have seen people climb over the check-in gate or just walk through it after someone else has checked-in. And there´s no one to regulate it.
As far as I´ve seen in the metro/train stations people have to use the same gates to get in/out. Quite inconvenient during rush hour when many people are in a hurry.
Swedish people seem very slacky when it come to regulations. I´ve been telling museum staff I´m 18 so I can visit museums for free. No one has asked to see my passport as of yet. Just so you know, I´m almost turning 22 now. I´m not sure whether to see this as a compliment or an insult.
I wonder how many other weird things I have/will notice. Let´s find out!
Ps: why am I suddenly seeing the message: Occasionally your visitors may see advertisements here………I never asked for advertisements WordPress!
16 Rue Sainte-Anne and open from 9 to 10!
When visiting Rue Sainte-Anne make sure to visit this bakery! They have green tea bread, curry bread and a bunch of other flavours! Not to mention their cakes! Mmmm green tea cake, red bean cake and terriyaki, takoyaki! And bubble tea! I’m sure they also sell a lot of other products but I didn’t really get the chance to look around that much. It was very crowded. Do try to snatch a seat outside so you can people-watch! Always interesting to watch all those Asian tourists ;p
Don’t you get hungry just by looking? I’d go back to Paris just to visit this place again!
Ps: I got these pictures from google and travelsites, if these are yours and you mind, drop me a line!
Coming up soon: More London posts, Etude house haul and Sweden!
Ps: Does anyone know how to change the color of my text? And where have all the symbols gone?
I was in London in April-May and went to the Victoria and Albert museum. At first I thought it was a fashion museum but it turned out to have a lot on other timelines and cultures as well. I only took photo’s of the fashion though since I felt the other objects there felt too familiar to me. I’m going to post the photo’s in a few different posts. Here are some prints from several fashion magazines. How weird it must have been not to have modern printing/communication options, by the time you got a magazine the fashion was already sooooo last year!
How uncomfortable it must have been to be a woman back then! I bet lot’s of these ladies got deformed spines!
Beanies! But they make it look chic!
Some fabrics Daddy took home for his little girls!
I think it’s funny that almost the whole exhibition was on women’s fashion. There was only a small part on men’s fashion and that was about waistcoats. Quite boring….
I went to Maastricht a while ago which is in the south of my country. It’s an old city with a long history of military oppression and protests. The city doesn’t have a lot of inhabitants but a lot of tourists visit the place each year without making it look very touristy. I think the city’s ambiance is a bit like Belgium. A lot of the buildings and streets are very old and different from the north. So it’s nice to walk around and photograph.
I think people in this city are definitely life enjoyers. The city has the highest pub/restaurant density of the whole country and a lot of street musicians and high-end stores! Not to mention the country’s most restaurants with Michelin stars!
When I was there I saw a lot of people wearing expensive fashion brands and walking around with dressed-up cue little dogs. It gave me the impression of preppy people ;p Guess this kinda add fuel to the story that a lot of people with money live there.
I forgot my camera that day so I couldn’t take any pictures of the beautiful buildings and the landscape. Did you know that:
Maastricht is a bit more hilly than the rest of the flat country?
And is well-known for its creation of the Maastricht Treaty which led to the creation of the European Union, currency and citizenship?
Is the oldest Dutch settlement, originated in 500 BC?
I really want to visit this place again this summer. It’s really a nice place to wander and get lost or to just enjoy the different cuisines here with some good street musicians as background sound! Got to go back for some picture snapping as well!
So combining socks and pumps is seen all the time in magazines but now it seems the magazines focus on it specifically. I like that there are socks made especially for in pumps and that they can be worn two-way!
Beanpole is a Korean fashion brand. I like their bags very much. They are sophisticated but with a touch of cuteness, Enjoy!
Love blue and green!
